Come Join the DES Team!<br><br>The Department of Economic Security, Division of Financial Operations, Accounting Administration, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Accountant 1. This position is responsible for applying the principles, theories, and concepts of accounting to a specific system. The Accountant 1 requires access to the system with Federal Tax Information, and will perform defined accounting tasks such as examining a variety of financial transactions and statements for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other specific accounting requirements; reconcile reports and financial data, and identify apparent inconsistencies or errors; carry out assigned steps in accounting analyses, such as computing standard ratios; review a variety of fiscal documents and verifies for accuracy, timeliness, and proper preparation; gather and compile data and write reports summarizing financial transactions and status of accounts for a given period; make entries and revisions to agency accounts, ledgers, and financial records; monitor funds from the federal government to ensure proper matching of state and federal expenditures; and review, monitor and control amount expended from budget(s) to assure that expenditures do not exceed funds available.<br><br>This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department’s business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. <br><br>The State of Arizona strives for a work culture that affords employees flexibility, autonomy, and trust.
