We seek innovative scholars with expertise in the design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions that improve population health outcomes and reduce disparities in healthcare and health status. Candidates should demonstrate a record of community engagement, participatory research, intervention development, and translation of research into practice and policy. Faculty in this role will contribute to building a rigorous and inclusive portfolio of community-engaged scholarship aligned with SGH’s mission. This position offers an opportunity to join a premier, cross-disciplinary academic environment where teaching, research, and practice intersect to prepare students to design, implement, and evaluate interventions that promote health equity across diverse communities and populations.**Essential Functions (Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities):*** Design and teach graduate-level courses in community-based research methods, population health interventions, and program evaluation (typical load: 4 courses/year), such as *Community-Based Participatory Research*, *Participatory Evaluation and Impact Assessment*, or *Mixed-Methods Approaches to Health Equity.** Mentor graduate students and junior faculty in CBPR methods, participatory frameworks, and intervention development, including serving on thesis and dissertation committees.* Build cross-disciplinary collaborations with community organizations, clinicians, public health leaders, and policymakers to co-develop and evaluate interventions addressing structural and social determinants of health, leveraging opportunities for cross-campus collaboration across Meharry’s health systems, community partners, and national and global health networks.* Lead an externally funded (or fundable) research program in community-engaged or participatory research that demonstrates measurable community impact and a commitment to equity.* Develop and apply participatory and co-design methods that ensure interventions are culturally responsive, sustainable, and equitable.* Integrate robust community engagement, monitoring, and participatory evaluation processes into research and practice, emphasizing reciprocity and long-term impact.* Publish in top-tier peer-reviewed journals, present at national/international conferences, and mentor graduate students in preparing and showcasing their research to elevate the visibility of the School of Global Health.**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:*** PhD, DrPH, MD, JD, ScD or equivalent doctoral degree in Public Health, Population Health Science, Behavioral Science, or closely related field.* Demonstrated teaching expertise in community-engaged research, participatory research methods, or intervention development.* Evidence of a funded or fundable research program appropriate to career stage.* Strong interpersonal and cultural competency skills to effectively engage with diverse communities and constituencies.* Commitment to advancing health equity via research, teaching, and mentorship.* Ability to demonstrate successful interdisciplinary research collaboration.**Education and Experience Required:*** PhD, DrPH, MD, JD, ScD or equivalent doctoral degree in Public Health, Population Health Science, Behavioral Science, or closely related field.* Three to five years of relevant experience working in an educational and/or research setting.**Equal Employment Opportunity Statement***Meharry Medical College complies with Title IX and is an affirmative action employer.
