Billing Team Lead for US Entities – Remote Position

<strong>Job Description</strong><p>As the Billing Team Lead, you will report to the Head of Finance and act as a bridge between Finance and Operations. You will lead a team of billing agents whose work mirrors that of Project Accountants, overseeing the entire lifecycle of project financials—from time and material tracking to revenue recognition.</p><p>You will be responsible for ensuring that billing is not only accurate and timely but also compliant with sophisticated accounting principles.</p><p><br></p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><ul><li><strong>Team Leadership:</strong> Supervise and mentor a team of billing agents, ensuring high performance in invoicing, project cost accounting, and cash application.</li><li><strong>Project Accounting & Revenue Management:</strong> Oversee complex accounting tasks including Work in Progress (WIP) analysis, revenue cut-off procedures, and the management of revenue deferrals and accruals.</li><li><strong>Data Integrity & Analysis:</strong> Review project data to spot discrepancies in billable time and expenses. Conduct deep-dive analyses to correct errors before they impact the P&L.</li><li><strong>Consultant & Stakeholder Support:</strong> Act as the primary point of escalation for Billing Agents and Project Managers regarding contract terms, budget tracking, and complex billing inquiries.</li><li><strong>Full Cycle Accounts Receivable:</strong> Oversee the AR function carried out by billing agents, including the accurate matching of cash receipts to invoices and the proactive clearing of aging AR.</li><li><strong>System Optimization:</strong> Serve as the functional expert for the ERP system and ensure accurate and timely flow of information to the financial system (specifically Sage Intacct or similar).</li><li><strong>Process Improvement:</strong> Identify opportunities to improve billing workflows, strengthen controls, and increase overall efficiency across the team.</li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Qualifications</strong><ul><li><strong>Experience:</strong> 5+ years of experience, including minimum 2 years in the management consulting industry</li><li><strong>Leadership:</strong> Prior experience leading, mentoring, or coaching a team is preferred</li><li><strong>Technical Accounting:</strong> Solid understanding of GAAP, specifically regarding revenue recognition, accruals, and project financial lifecycles</li><li><strong>Systems Expertise:</strong> Experience with ERP systems and Sage Intacct (or similar) is a must</li><li><strong>Analytical Mindset:</strong> Strong ability to manipulate and interpret data; you should be the person who finds the "needle in the haystack" when reconciliations don't match</li><li><strong>Communication:</strong> Ability to translate complex financial concepts to non-finance Project Managers and Consultants</li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Location & Eligibility</strong><p>This is a remote position supporting US entities. <strong>Only candidates residing in Toronto, Canada are eligible to apply and be considered for this role.</strong> Candidates must be able to work US business hours.</p><p><br></p><strong>Company Description</strong><p>Our client is a next-generation, global management consulting group.
