Join a collaborative team that values innovation, accountability, and service in a mission-driven higher education environment.<br /><br />Position Summary:<br /><br />Under the general direction of the University Budget Director, the Budget Analyst II performs complex budget and financial analysis in support of the University's operating budget. This position has primary responsibility for position management and salary budget administration and ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data across multiple enterprise systems.<br /><br />The incumbent works independently to process budget transactions, perform financial forecasting, reconcile accounts, and support fiscal year-end processes. The role also serves as a resource to campus departments, providing guidance on budget policies, procedures, and financial systems. This position operates in a professional office environment and requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.<br /><br />Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:<br /><br />Administer and manage university budgets across multiple funding sources, including monitoring expenditures and fund balances<br /><br />Perform financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to support institutional decision-making<br /><br />Process and reconcile budget transactions, including transfers, allocations, and fiscal year-end activities<br /><br />Manage position funding and labor cost distribution processes, ensuring data accuracy across systems<br /><br />Serve as a subject matter expert for financial and budget systems (e.g., CHRS/CFS, Questica), including troubleshooting and system support<br /><br />Provide consultation, training, and guidance to campus departments on budget processes, policies, and financial systems<br /><br />Minimum Qualifications:<br /><br />Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience.<br /><br />Additional experience that demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities of this position may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.<br /><br />An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.<br /><br />Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:<br /><br />General knowledge of the principles and practices of governmental budgeting and accounting;<br /><br />Working knowledge of the principles and practices of public finance;<br /><br />Excellent organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills<br /><br />Analytical and problem-solving skills (i.e., financial and data analysis, multiple fund sources).<br /><br />Ability to monitor and reconcile financial activity, as well as assist to make financial projections and prepare related reports (e.g. budgeting and reconciliation for capital projects, multiple fund sources).<br /><br />Ability to take the initiative, anticipate problems, and assist in solving issues in a timely manner;<br /><br />Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment;<br /><br />Ability to assist to formulate well-reasoned courses of action of solutions to problems.<br /><br />Preferred Qualifications:<br /><br />A Master's degree in Business Administration or a related field, with a concentration in public or business administration, Accounting, or Finance is highly desirable.<br /><br />Experience with automated financial systems, complex spreadsheets, databases, and/or database query tools is desirable but not required.<br /><br />Experience using CMS/CFS (Common Management System - Financials, HR) or other similar software enterprise systems is highly desirable.<br /><br />To view the full position description, click Position Description above.<br /><br />General Information: <br /><br />Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
