JOB SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, performs complex planning and procurement of various commodities using a mainframe MRP system. Plans, purchases, expedites, and negotiates materials in support of production schedules and capital/MRO material and service requirements. Maintains the MRP system data and its integrity, prepares and analyzes reports, and supports project management of existing and new products.

  • Negotiates, reviews, and administers contracts for assigned commodities. Establishes partnership relationships with suppliers that support company goals and objectives.
  • Develops and implements programs with suppliers and internal cross-functional team members that address lead time production, order fill rate performance, quality performance, cost reduction, and technical improvements.
  • Evaluates and maintains the material requirements plan for assigned commodities and ensures systems validity and integrity by inputting and adjusting records according to company and/or department guidelines.
  • As a fiduciary agent of the company, utilizes system to generate and adjust purchase orders in support of MRP/ERP requirements and effectively communicates areas of concern to appropriate departments, individuals, and suppliers.
  • Interacts with suppliers to ensure correct parts are delivered on-time, at the quoted pricing and quantity.
  • Exceptional knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures including MRP/ERP logic, NCM, First Article, RMA, Drawings/Specifications, Expedites and Cancellations.
  • Assists in on-boarding new suppliers and materials in conjunction with Commodity Management and Supplier Quality, in support of company goals and objectives.
  • Uses knowledge and experience to provide support and guidance to team members and other departments as required.
  • Lead and/or participate in department process improvement and training teams.
  • Crisis Mitigation/Escalation Capable of escalating to, and resolving issues with, suppliers VP/Corporate personnel.
  • Ownership of Workbench Capable of ensuring timely and effective completion of Shortage Report, Late P.O.s, MRP Action Messages, and SIMs. Manages higher volume of higher dollar value parts with more complex attributes. Capable of managing a workbench consisting of multiple strategic commodities.
  • Costing Knowledge (Total Cost of Ownership (TCO))/Negotiation Possess excellent knowledge of material costing, including all the elements of TCO. Capable of not only buying components at Target Cost, but also able to drive large dollars of favorable PPV. Understands commodity market trends, and uses this knowledge to mitigate cost increases from suppliers. Able to negotiate improved Payment Terms and Freight Terms with suppliers.
  • Business Acumen/Situational Awareness Possess excellent reasoning skills to understand situations and make business decisions that result in a positive outcome for KTC. Also, has excellent knowledge and understanding of the financial and operational functions of the Corporation. Fully comprehends ramifications of making poor business decisions on key company measures, and the objectives of the Corporation.
  • Supplier Relations Capable of having business discussions with suppliers VP/Corporate personnel.
  • Product Knowledge Possess excellent commodity knowledge. Excellent understanding of the component pricing history. Robust understanding of the manufacturing process for the commodity. Able to provide suggested alternate sources for his/her commodity. Possess strong knowledge of raw material market trends.
  • Logistics Excellent knowledge of Key Tronic Routing Guide and of current IncoTerms, and comprehends impact of actions/inactions of non-compliance. Is able to develop and implement alternate plans to mitigate negative impacts of non-compliance (including consolidating shipments into larger containers, etc.).

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Compiles data and prepares reports as requested and required by purchasing management.
  • Attends meetings as needed to support cross-functional team objectives.
  • Will provide assistance to Purchasing Lead/Supervisor as needed.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors Degree in supply chain management, materials, operations, business, or related field.
  • Five-plus years experience in manufacturing planning, purchasing, negotiations, or supplier relations.
  • Must have a deep knowledge of MRP logic and its manufacturing operations modules.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to relate to and work with diverse groups of people.
  • Must have knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment and be familiar with commonly used email, Internet, word processing, databases and spreadsheets.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and materials. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors Degree in supply chain management, materials, operations, business, or related field.
  • Eight-plus years direct procurement experience with strong knowledge of MRP systems.
  • CPSM, CPM, or other related certification.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Experience in Contract Manufacturing and EMS industry desired with an emphasis in supporting an offshore manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish, Vietnamese, and/or Chinese.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The environment is fast-paced; time pressured, and requires accuracy. The normal environment is quiet and typical of an open cubical setting with some areas that may be louder at times.
