CDL Class B Ready Mix Driver

Job Summary

Vulcan Materials Company, the nation’s largest producer of construction aggregates and a major producer of ready-mixed concrete, asphalt, and cement, is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious CDL Class B Ready Mix Driver. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering ready-mix concrete to our customers in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. The position requires a commitment to safety, high-quality service, and professional conduct while representing Vulcan Materials on the road and at customer job sites.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a Class B commercial vehicle to transport and deliver ready-mix concrete to designated locations.
  • Inspect the truck before and after each trip, ensuring proper maintenance and safety compliance.
  • Load and unload concrete materials while maintaining the correct mix and slump as per customer requirements.
  • Ensure timely delivery of products while adhering to all DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, batch plant operators, and customers to coordinate delivery schedules.
  • Maintain accurate delivery tickets, time logs, and inspection records.
  • Clean and wash the mixer drum and exterior of the truck daily to maintain proper function and appearance.
  • Follow all environmental and safety standards set by Vulcan Materials Company.
  • Report any mechanical issues, accidents, or delivery problems promptly to supervisors.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Valid CDL Class B license with a clean driving record.
  • DOT medical certification required.
  • Minimum age of 21 years as per DOT regulations.
  • Ability to drive and operate heavy equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Excellent knowledge of DOT rules and local traffic laws.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform vehicle inspections accurately.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
  • Basic mechanical skills for handling minor truck maintenance issues.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience, preferably with ready-mix or construction materials.
  • Experience operating concrete mixer trucks is highly preferred but not mandatory—training will be provided for qualified candidates.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position with flexible working hours, including early mornings, weekends, and overtime when required.
  • Work schedule is typically Monday through Saturday, depending on project demand and weather conditions.

  • Ability to read and interpret delivery tickets, maps, and job orders.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform manual labor as needed.
