Essential Functions:

• Responsible for organizing and directing the accounting personnel and the integrity of our financial data, accounting, taxes, reporting, and financial controls.

• Oversee the monthly close process, including financial analysis and preparation of various month-end deliverables. Ensure accuracy of financial statements through strict account reconciliation procedures and balance sheet reviews.

Verify, review, and analyze property general ledgers on both cash and accrual basis ensuring accuracy and adherence to established accounting policies and procedures. Responsible for general and advanced accounting functions and for meeting calendar deadlines.

Proactively manage, motivate, and mentor department personnel.

• Provide technical guidance on complex accounting issues. Ensure consistency in accounting policies and compliance with GAAP.

• Ensure there is prompt evaluation of the findings and recommendations reported by auditors and then determine proper actions in response to audit findings and recommendations for corrective actions

• Oversee financial and accounting system controls, including partnering with IT in system conversions and implementations.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this role would exhibit the following qualifications:

  • Significant accounting experience with Real Estate operating companies. Property Management Accounting experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree preferred; CPA preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP accounting, internal controls over financial reporting
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience with increasing responsibilities and recent leadership roles.
  • Multifamily & Commercial Community real estate experience preferred.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced team -oriented environment.
  • Experience managing teams with sound judgement and strong leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Extensive experience with RealPage/OneSite, Yardi, Entrata, AppFolio and other real estate property management applications.
