Data Engineer

We are seeking a Data Engineer to design, manage and optimize the organization’s data infrastructure and database systems. The role involves ensuring data availability, integrity, security and performance across operational and analytical systems. The Data Engineer will be responsible for database administration, data pipeline development, integration and supporting data-driven initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain backend services, APIs and server-side logic
  • Manage and administer relational and non-relational databases
  • Monitor database performance, optimize queries and ensure high availability
  • Develop, maintain and optimize ETL/ELT data pipelines
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency and security across all systems
  • Perform database backup, recovery, replication and disaster recovery planning
  • Support integration between ERP, applications and external systems
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Maintain data documentation including schemas, data dictionaries and workflows
  • Enforce data governance, access controls and compliance standards

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in data engineering or database administration roles. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and database design principles
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL)
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, Redis) is an advantage
  • Experience building and managing ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and data modeling (star schema, normalization)
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python for data processing and automation
  • Understanding of data integration techniques (APIs, batch processing, streaming)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms or managed database services is an advantage
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
  • Strong ownership mindset with accountability for data reliability and performance
  • Proactive in identifying improvements in data architecture and processes
