Decision Scientist, Market Share Analytics

About the position

As a Decision Scientist, Market Share Measurement & Analytics, you will drive the execution and transformation of Best Buy’s market measurement and industry analytics capabilities. You will help create an internal market intelligence platform that delivers accurate, trusted, and action market insights and unlocks the value of Best Buy’s data by enabling partner monetization opportunities. In this role, you’ll collaborate across analytics, data engineering, and business teams to translate complex data into impactful strategies. This is an exciting opportunity to influence how Best Buy anticipates market shifts and strengthens its competitive position. This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work on site Monday through Thursday at the Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You can work virtually from home or another non‑Best Buy location on Friday. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Drive execution of Best Buy’s market share and industry measurement transformation, establishing a trusted, model‑driven market share solution as the enterprise source of truth
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure data integrity, accessibility, and alignment with business needs.
  • Execute and maintain market share measurement and analytics, including data acquisition, modeling, and visualization.
  • Drive data monetization opportunities that maximize the value of Best Buy’s proprietary data
  • Integrate and analyze multiple internal and external data sources to answer key business questions.
  • Identify and evaluate external data sources while improving data quality and reporting capabilities.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in analytics, market research, or competitive intelligence.
  • 2+ years applying analytical techniques to solve business problems.
  • 2+ years experience leveraging data science and data visualization tools, such as SQL, Tableau/PowerBI/Looker, SAS, R and/or Python
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex data into impactful business insights.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of balancing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality results on time.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or related field.
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience with statistical inference, predictive modeling, or big data analytics.
  • Experience working with syndicated or external data sources.
  • Experience presenting insights to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to influence decision-making through data-driven storytelling.
