External Development Manager New Massachusetts - Remote

Ghost Story Games is a self-publishing game development studio founded by Ken Levine (Creative Director of System Shock 2, Bioshock, and Bioshock Infinite) and former Irrational Games developers. The studio’s mission is to create narrative-driven experiences rooted in immersive world building and gameplay.

The Challenge:

Ghost Story Games is seeking a talented Outsourcing Manager to join us on Judas, the highly anticipated game led by Ken Levine (System Shock 2, BioShock series). Unique in its bold, creative vision, Judas is also built upon novel technology by which the visual world, gameplay, and story unfolds in meaningful, dynamic ways. The result is a significant and personal journey adapted to each player’s experience and offers a new approach to the art and storytelling of video games.

We are looking for an experienced Outsourcing Manager with a strong background in managing the full lifecycle of content or feature development in AAA game production. A passion for building and overseeing scalable production pipelines, clear communication strategies, and productive partnerships. Experience working with outsourcing and co-development partners to ensure delivery of high-quality results on time.

What You\'ll Take On:

  • Manage content production pipelines-from initial planning through final implementation-ensuring all deliverables meet quality standards and production goals.
  • Seek out external development opportunities, build relationships, and ensure agreements are in place.
  • Coordinate closely with both internal teams and external partners to drive day-to-day communication and ensure clarity on tasks, priorities, and expectations.
  • Track and report on asset or feature status, interdependencies, and risks to production and leadership teams.
  • Support overall production efforts by managing schedules, tracking progress, and assisting with issue resolution and prioritization.

What You Bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Outsourcing Manager or similar production leadership role in gaming .
  • Proven success in shipping multiple AAA titles or equivalent large-scale projects.
  • Strong communication, project management, and relationship-building skills. Deep understanding of the game development process and industry platforms.
  • Skilled in creating and maintaining project schedules and tracking deliverables against milestones.
  • Demonstrated experience managing internal to external development teams andprocesses.
  • Familiarity with standard production management tools and practices.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.

Great to Have:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and adapt to changing priorities. Leadership skills to maintain team motivation and focus in high-pressure
  • situations.
  • Solid problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Hansoft, Jira, Confluence, Miro or similar project tracking platforms.
  • Interest in narrative-driven or action-focused games is a plus.
