About the position

Performs work for the functions/groups to which these students or recent graduates are assigned. (Note: Interns in this Job Category are paid for overtime where legally required. Contact HR-Total Rewards for guidance.) Supports clients/customers and assists with functional projects under regular supervision. Has a general knowledge of the work function Manufacturing Operations is accepting online applications for the position for Machinist Intern located in Pascagoula, Mississippi through Monday, April 2nd at 11:59PM (Central Standard Time). Internships last approximately 12 weeks and will be offered during the summer of 2026. A successful internship may result in extension of the internship, or transition to a regular full-time mechanic trainee position. Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: Support Health, Environment, and Safety processes by accomplishing daily activities within applicable regulations and policies. Carry out duties in an environmentally conscious manner and follow safe operating practices as described in the Managing Safe Work and Operational Excellence Management System, and Chevron Way Behaviors. Engage with Mentor and local Subject Matter Experts (SME) to reinforce training and strengthen competency. Take ownership for personal development. Seek out, provide, and apply feedback. Communicate clearly and authentically. Demonstrate high standards of integrity and bring a positive outlook to work. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have successfully graduated or will graduate by December 2026 with an Associates of Applied Science Degree or Certificate Program in Precision Machinery and/or Mechanical Maintenance.
  • Must provide proof of degree, certificate, or current enrollment with graduation date in applicant's online profile.
  • Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher.
  • Basic knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and an aptitude for learning new software applications.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends, and holidays if assigned.
  • Ability to successfully complete required drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination, as well as pre-placement verification of the information and qualifications provided during the selection process.
  • Requires frequent and extended time outdoors in all climates and in proper personal protective equipment.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Must have a High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates Degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Precision Machinery and/or Mechanical Maintenance Programs.
  • Graduate of a Central Gulf Industrial Alliance endorsed college Precision Machinery and/or Mechanical Maintenance Programs.
  • Familiarity with reliability efforts for a variety of safety, environmental and process related issues.
  • Familiar with Inside and/or Outside Machinist competencies.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, and internal and external customers
  • Prefer a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
