About You and This Role

Dow is seeking a Maintenance Electrical Technician to join our team in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.

In this role, you will execute planned preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. You will support reliable plant operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation and electrical systems across the site. Addition expectations of this role are to collaborate with various groups to develop plans, procedures and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install instrumentation and electrical equipment, with electrical as a primary focus.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime and ensure safe, reliable operation.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance (PPM) tasks to sustain equipment health and reduce unplanned failures.
  • Calibrate, test, and repair instrumentation, electronic controls, and process variables to ensure accurate and safe performance.
  • Support root cause investigations and assist with documentation of failure analysis and corrective actions.
  • Collect equipment performance data and support reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Provide detailed job feedback including findings, work performed, and hours to planners and coordinators.
  • Coordinate with planners and Work Coordinators to prioritize and schedule E&I activities effectively.
  • Assist in defining spare parts, maintaining equipment files in SAP, and supporting maintenance work processes.
  • Provide troubleshooting support to operations for priority or critical plant issues.
  • Follow all established maintenance work processes and safety standards.
  • Support off-hours calls as required.
  • Actively participate on plant reliability and improvement teams.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus an Electrical Journeyperson Certificate or Red Seal designation.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience in Electrical systems.
  • A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including any type of permanent residency support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Instrumentation Journeyperson Certification
  • Technologist degree in either Electrical or Instrumentation
  • Working knowledge of common instrumentation including flow elements, level and pressure transmitters, temperature probes, and control valves.
  • Experience with electrical controls, motor systems, distribution systems, and DC voltage systems.
  • Familiarity with variable frequency drives (VFDs), high-voltage breakers, and UPS systems.
  • Basic proficiency with SAP or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft applications.

Physical Requirements

Must be willing and able to perform the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including ear protection, goggles, steel-toed footwear, and respirators.
  • Perform frequent bending, lifting, climbing stairs/ladders, and working at elevated heights.
  • Work in tight or enclosed spaces.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Use safety equipment that may have specific weight limitations (up to 300 lbs total including body weight and equipment, where applicable).
