Medical Billing and Coding Specialist - Remote Opportunity

Description This is a remote work-from-home position. Candidates must reside within a three-hour radius of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, to be considered. As a Medical Billing/Coding Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring that patient visits are accurately coded into insurance claims and billing statements, allowing for successful payments. Key Responsibilities Engage daily with patients/customers via phone to answer inquiries and process payments. Accurately code patient visits to ensure timely billing. Collaborate with team members to address billing and insurance questions. Process weekly billing of patient visits as part of an employee rotation schedule. Communicate with insurance companies to resolve payment issues. File electronic insurance claims and appeals. Respond to claim denials and work towards resolution. Required Skills And Abilities Strong verbal and written communication skills, both over the phone and in person. Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. Knowledge of billing guidelines for Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Workers' Compensation insurance. Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems. Previous experience handling claims, payment posting, denials, and appeals. Ability to work full days from home without interruptions. Education And Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Certificate in Medical Coding. A minimum of two years of related experience is required. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. Frequent use of hands for typing and data entry. Ability to speak on the phone for at least 50% of the workday.
