Job Title: Microsoft Excel & Power Automate Developer
Location: Remote
Contract Duration: Project-Based (Estimated 1–3 Months, Part-Time)
Pay Rate: $45–$55/hour
Contract Type: 1099 (Independent Contractor Only)


Project Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Excel & Power Automate Developer to design and implement a custom-built, end-to-end financial automation tool tailored to our firm’s internal consulting operations. This project will involve building a self-contained solution (non-subscription based) that streamlines how we manage and track consultant and employee billing, payroll, invoicing, and margin reporting.

The final product will allow our team to input bill rates and pay rates and generate dynamic outputs such as margin projections vs. actuals, partner revenue tracking, and firm-level financial summaries. Additionally, the tool must integrate invoice tracking, allow for standardized hour submissions, and generate client-facing invoices and internal revenue dashboards, all powered by Excel logic and Power Automate flows.


Scope of Services & Key Deliverables:

  • Design and develop a fully functional Excel-based financial tool integrated with Power Automate workflows
  • Create input fields for consultant/employee pay rates, bill rates, and monthly hours
  • Generate outputs including:
    • Margin Projections vs. Actuals
    • Consultant and Partner Revenue
    • Firm-level Revenue & Profitability Tracking
    • Standardized, auto-filled client invoices for approval
  • Develop standardized invoice entry forms for time tracking (per consultant/employee)
  • Build automation flows to pull input data and update financial dashboards in real time
  • Ensure the tool is non-subscription based, allowing our firm to fully own and operate it upon completion
  • Include documentation and basic training for staff handoff
  • Project proposal after interview stage


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience developing advanced Excel-based financial models
  • Strong expertise in Power Automate, including data flow creation, triggers, and integrations
  • Proficiency in Excel formulas, macros, pivot tables, Power Query, and dashboarding
  • Experience working with financial or consulting services data (e.g., margins, invoicing, labor tracking)
  • Ability to create clean, user-friendly interfaces within Excel
  • Experience delivering end-to-end automated tools for internal business use
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently and deliver a finished product with limited oversight


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with project-based consulting firms or staffing models
  • Background in accounting, finance, or operations analytics
  • Experience building tools for margin, utilization, and profitability tracking
  • Ability to advise on additional automation opportunities within Excel or Microsoft 365 suite
