Job Summary

Gulf Marine Welding is seeking a skilled and safety-oriented Offshore Rig Welder to join our dynamic marine engineering team. This position plays a vital role in the construction, maintenance, and repair of offshore oil rigs, vessels, and related marine structures. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in welding under challenging offshore conditions, ensuring structural integrity, safety compliance, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication on offshore oil rigs, platforms, and marine structures according to approved specifications and blueprints.
  • Operate various welding equipment, including SMAW, MIG, and TIG machines, ensuring quality welds that meet project and safety standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on offshore structures to prevent corrosion, leaks, or structural damage.
  • Collaborate with rig engineers, supervisors, and other trades to coordinate welding schedules and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with offshore safety regulations, company procedures, and environmental standards.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports on welding operations, material usage, and quality inspections.
  • Work efficiently in confined spaces, underwater, and at elevated heights as required by offshore conditions.
  • Participate in safety drills, toolbox meetings, and ongoing training sessions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Technical or vocational certification in welding preferred.
  • Certified Welder (AWS, ABS, or equivalent offshore welding certification).
  • Proficiency in SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW welding processes.
  • Strong knowledge of offshore safety protocols and hazard management.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent physical stamina and ability to work in challenging weather and sea conditions.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of welding experience in offshore or marine environments.
  • Prior experience working on oil rigs, shipyards, or heavy industrial projects is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with welding inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT) procedures is an advantage.

Working Hours

  • Rotational offshore schedule (e.g., 28 days on / 28 days off).
  • Extended hours, weekends, and night shifts may be required depending on project demands.
  • Must be willing to work and reside on offshore platforms for the duration of each shift rotation.
