Role Overview:

The Outside Sales Rep position is a consultive sales role with responsibility for developing and managing new sales. This goal is achieved by acquiring and onboarding new accounts and increasing market share in existing accounts. The Outside Sales Rep is responsible for the overall growth and profitability of their portfolio of business. This happens through generating new account leads, making compelling product presentations to chefs/buyers, and consistently closing each business opportunity while maintaining the highest standards of excellence. An ideal candidate must have strong food and restaurant industry knowledge, be self-motivated and highly driven to succeed.

Responsibilities:

· Acquire new accounts utilizing research, networking, cold-calling, presentation and closing skills.

· Must be able to anticipate and solve problems as they arise, while continually building business in existing accounts. Must make compelling product presentations to sell against the competition.

· Comfortable with a varied schedule consisting primarily of cold-calling and making face-to-face sales presentations with prospects and customers.

· Identify competitive business trends and develop a strategic plan to capitalize on them within each account, using a range of tactics.

· Communicate professionally and effectively with customers and fellow employees.

· Collaborate with Operations, Transportation, Purchasing and Customer Service to ensure first class customer experience.

· Proactively assess, clarify, and validate customer needs on an ongoing basis.

· Work closely with accounting on maintaining customers A/R within terms.

· Additional duties as required.

Skills:

· Proven track record in food sales

· Ability to make effective sales presentations to purchasers, including chefs, managers and business owners

· Restaurant industry networking is required to identify new business opportunities, build and maintain relationships with a variety of business stakeholders, and utilize those relationships to grow sales

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Problem solving; must be able to overcome challenging situations by finding the win-win solution

· Project management; manage longer-term projects with targeted objectives, milestones and goals

· Strong negotiation skills

· Comfort and proficiency in business applications (Microsoft Office [Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint], CRM)

· Strong background and proven track record in sales

· Basic meat knowledge is a must

· Requires strong reading, writing, communication and analytical skills

· Ability to work with minimal supervision

· Must have a strong collaborative, team-player attitude

· Detail oriented

· Must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle for traveling. Monthly car allowance provided

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to drive a vehicle on a continual basis throughout shift

· Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on occasion

· Able to repeatedly move a 75 pound load on a cart/hand-truck without assistance
