Part-Time Fractional Controller (CFO Track) – Remote (U.S. Only)

Chief Financial Partners Chief Financial Partners is seeking a Part-Time Fractional Controller to join our growing team. This role is perfect for experienced finance professionals who want flexible, part-time work with the opportunity to grow into a Fractional CFO position. Position Details • Compensation $2,500/month • Hours Part-time, approximately 30–50 hours per month (workload varies by client — some months lighter, some heavier) • Location Remote (U.S.-based candidates only) • Employment Type Contract / Part-Time About the Role This is a hands-on, part-time role that blends finance, accounting, and operations. You’ll work directly with small business clients, serving as both a strategic partner and an operations problem-solver. Responsibilities include • Financial Planning & Budgeting (50%) • Build budgets and forecasts • Analyze client margins and cash flow • Provide actionable insights for growth and efficiency • Accounting (25%) • Review client books for accuracy • Ensure proper use of the chart of accounts • Handle complex accounting matters, reconciliations, and compliance • Assist with state tax filings and multi-jurisdiction reporting as needed • Operations (25%) • Call vendors to negotiate terms • Work with banks on financing and cash management • Partner with general managers to plan staffing and labor hours • Step in to solve operational challenges directly for clients Qualifications • CPA or CMA designation (active or inactive accepted) • Proven experience working with small businesses • Strong background in accounting and state tax compliance • Experience handling complex accounting issues (multi-entity, consolidations, accruals, etc.) • Comfortable engaging in both financial and operational work — not afraid to “roll up your sleeves” when clients need support • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial insights in plain language • Must be U.S.-based Why Join Chief Financial Partners?
