This role requires deep knowledge of the PBM and healthcare benefits landscape, the SlateRx business model including the underlying coalition contract, strong executive presence, and a track record of exceeding sales targets. The AVP of Business Development reports directly to the Chief Growth Officer and partners closely with cross-functional leaders to align sales strategy with product and operational capabilities.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p> <p>Strategic Leadership & Sales Execution</p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Develop and execute a comprehensive PBM sales strategy that supports corporate growth goals and expands market presence.</li> <li>Oversee and manage the full sales cycle—from lead generation and RFP response to contract negotiation and close.</li> <li>Forecast annual and quarterly revenue, establish sales targets, and monitor progress against goals.</li> </ul> <p>Business Development & Client Engagement</p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Within a designated region, identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities with self-funded employers, brokers, consultants, TPAs, and other strategic partners.</li> <li>Build and maintain executive-level relationships (C-suite and senior decision-makers) to influence long-term partnerships.</li> <li>Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and external events to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.</li> </ul> <p>Cross-Functional Collaboration</p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Partner with Sales, Operations, Marketing, Product, and Customer Success teams to refine sales messaging, enhance service offerings, and deliver customer value.</li> </ul> <p>Market Intelligence & Competitive Positioning</p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Monitor PBM industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive activity to inform sales tactics and product positioning.</li> <li>Leverage market insights to refine go-to-market approaches and differentiate SlateRx in a crowded PBM landscape.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Experience: 10+ years in PBM, healthcare benefits, or related sales leadership roles—with demonstrated success selling complex solutions and exceeding revenue targets.</li> <li>Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of PBM operations, formulary strategy, rebate contracting, pharmacy network management, and employer/health plan decision-making.</li> <li>Skills: Exceptional strategic thinking, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to influence high-level stakeholders.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Attributes:</strong></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Proven track record building and scaling sales in national or regional markets.</li> <li>Existing network with brokers, consultants, and large employer groups.</li> <li>Experience responding to and winning RFPs with self-insured employers, TPAs, and health plans.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Education:</strong></p> <p>Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.</p> <p><strong>Job Benefits:</strong></p> <p>Health, Dental, Vision, Life, 401k, Paid Time Off.</p> <p><strong>Location:</strong></p> <p>Remote with travel to client locations, internal business meetings, and other locations as needed.</p>
