Description
Marcus Autism Center is conducting a search for a doctoral-level clinician with specialization in Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) for medically complex children and children with autism. This position primarily focuses on providing clinical care, as well as clinical case management and supervision of post-doctoral students, interns, and staff providing a range of interventions, in intensive day treatment and outpatient programs. Children seen in the program receive 1:1 intervention delivered by Feeding Techs and Specialists in a clinic setting at multiple locations in the Atlanta area.
We are seeking individuals who are interested in joining a dedicated team of professionals that provide the highest quality care to children with ARFID. The clinician will be responsible for maintaining their own case load in the program. The clinician will join a multidisciplinary treatment team that includes professionals from Nutrition, Speech Language Pathology, Medicine, Occupational Therapy and Care Coordination. The position will also involve supervision of trainees at the Master’s, predoctoral, and postdoctoral level. There will also be opportunities for independent and/or collaborative research by joining or initiating research projects on a range of feeding-related topics.
Successful candidates will possess a PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology or a related field and may possess a certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst- Doctoral (BCBA-D). For psychologist candidates, completion of an APA-accredited internship and a postdoctoral fellowship is preferred and candidates must be license-eligble to practice as a psychologist in the state of Georgia.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This clinician supports and enhances the mission of the Division and of Children's by providing high quality patient care in an effective and efficient manner.
- Clinical Service:
- Provides effective delivery of services appropriate to the patient’s specific needs and severity level of disability or impairment.
- Develops and successfully implements assessment standards and treatment plans that support established goals
- Documents weekly/monthly treatment notes and assessment reports following established standards
- Completes discharge and follows up according to departmental standards
- Participates in and incorporates quality improvement and research findings into practice
- Demonstrates and practices family-centered care. Includes family/caregiver participation in all phases of the patient’s program. Communicates relevant information at the patient/family level of understanding. Maintains a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family.
- Completes necessary documentation and ensures communication in a timely manner to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.
- Provides supervision as appropriate to allied health providers, fellows, interns, psychometrists, students and other staff as assigned.
- A commitment to a model of care centered on inter-professional and collaborative teams of service delivery. Maintains an emphasis on minimizing duplication and increasing efficiency.
- Research:
- Actively support research activities underway in the Multidisciplinary Feeding Program
- Seek additional opportunities to support and lead research efforts as time and interest allow.
- Teaching:
- Provides direct supervision for trainees, ensuring adequate opportunities for training through teaching, patient contact, case review and research.
- Administrative:
- Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area and the organization overall.
- Participates in activities that enhance professional development.
- Completes and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the assigned area.
- Participate in the development of goals for the department including research, quality and customer service initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD or PsyD
- License-eligible or licensed to practice as psychologist in the state of Georgia.
- Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children's
- Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with patients and families and as a team member
