  • Total Compensation: $50.00 per hour
  • Type of Employment: 20 hours per week.
  • Period of Performance: 01 August 2026 – 31 July 2027 (with Option to extend)
  • Employment type: Independent Contractor (1099).

Work Location

Work will be accomplished primarily at the Human Systems Integration Directorate of the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) located at 2510 5th St., Building 840, Area B, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH 45433-7913.

Working Hours

Work will be scheduled normally from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, Eastern Time, Monday through Friday; however, there may be times when employees are required to work after duty hours or on weekends in support of specific tasking. Although the schedule may have to be flexible, it will not exceed 20 hours per week. Temporary alternate work locations may be assigned.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master's degree specializing in Research Psychology, Industrial Organizational Psychology, or a related Psychology discipline.
  • Have expert knowledge with at least 5 years of experience in database development, gathering and organizing data supporting analyses for a wide range of analytical procedures, research report writing, and developing actionable recommendations for improving human performance based on research.
  • Have at least five (5) years of experience designing and conducting statistical data analysis using software such as JMP, SPSS, R, etc.
  • Have at least five (5) years of experience with developing products presenting research outcomes (e.g., statistical results and interpretations), to include professional presentations, peer-reviewed publications, and/or technical reports.
  • Have at least five (5) years of experience engaged in administrative management with regard to study design, methodology, and dissemination of results regarding empirically based human performance research studies.

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (or Master's degree plus 7+ years of relevant experience) specializing in Research Psychology, Industrial Organizational Psychology, or a related Psychology discipline is desired.
  • Experience with human performance and behavioral science research within the Department of War (DoW) is desired.
  • Experience developing and administering comprehensive, validated psychological instruments via mobile and web-based capabilities is desired.
  • Experience as an author of publications in peer-reviewed journals or official USAF/DoW technical reports in behavioral science with regards to human performance and behavioral science research is desired.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and execution of a comprehensive study protocol, including hypothesis, methodologies, collection strategies, and overall statistical analysis of study data in consultation with United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) / Aeromedical Operational and Clinical Psychology Branch (FESP) professional staff.
  • Provide customer leadership with a relevant scientific literature review and data analyses, as well as participate in related discussions with USAFSAM/FESP staff.
  • Shall confer with and advise USAFSAM/FESP professional staff regarding optimal statistical approaches to analyze study data.
  • Shall perform statistical analyses of study data using descriptive and inferential statistical methods
  • procedures.
  • Shall minimize any threats to the validity of the statistical products or online data repositories, as well as maintain the data in a secure fashion consistent with IRB protocol and safeguards.
  • Shall maintain confidentiality of screening data, contents of technical reports, and presentation of data deemed sensitive and not releasable to the general public. The contractor employee shall complete the appropriate IRB paperwork and training requirements for conducting research.
  • Prepare reports of scientific/statistical results in support of scientific literature publication, in coordination with USAFSAM/FESP and 711 HPW staff. The number of professional presentations, reports, and papers shall be verified based on the relevance of research findings, as they become available.
  • Expect to travel, as needed, to provide professional support, customer consultations, and research presentations at line leadership meetings and professional conferences.
  • Work with assigned personnel regarding personal limitations on travel scheduling. The contractor employee shall maintain communications with project personnel that facilitate teamwork; adhere to strict confidentiality and classification requirements in all forms of communication.
  • Responsible for data management and coordinating process with project team members, which shall include acquisition, input, maintenance, electronic format products, and storage of all project data.
  • Shall assist staff in the collection of assessment data, maintenance, and downloading into the project database.
  • Shall provide project operations support, to include assistance with USAFSAM/FES research activities and acquisition of data in support of project goals and objectives.
  • Shall arrange, facilitate discussions, and participate in research team meetings (to include leading a weekly meeting) as needed, to ensure effective communication between research team members as related to the achievement of project research goals.
    • If there is an unexpected interruption in research capabilities and/or a reduction in workload, the contractor employee shall support research endeavors in support of additional USAFSAM/FESP-related investigations, as required.
