The Retail Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily store operations, with a strong focus on team leadership, performance management, and ensuring smooth and efficient store functioning. This role blends operational oversight with process improvement responsibilities, requiring close collaboration with senior management, warehouse teams, and Head Office. As a key leader on the shop floor, the Retail Supervisor drives consistency in execution, delivers regular feedback, and supports staff development through clear communication and role modelling. They are actively involved in staffing, inventory control, customer service, and reporting processes, ensuring operational standards are met and continuously improved. Working closely with peers, the Supervisor also shares knowledge and contributes to the ongoing enhancement of store performance and customer experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As Supervisor, you are personally responsible for overseeing and ensuring the effective execution of the following duties:

  • Personally manage staff schedules and rotas, ensuring optimal coverage and smooth daily operations.
  • Take ownership of payroll reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures.
  • Oversee all matters related to staff attendance, including recording sickness, managing lateness, and processing contract amendments.
  • Lead performance management for the team, supporting development through guidance, participating in appraisals alongside HR, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Personally approve and manage annual leave requests, maintaining appropriate staffing levels at all times.
  • Directly support recruitment efforts, including shortlisting and interviewing candidates, and assist in the overall hiring process.
  • Oversee and be accountable for the onboarding process, ensuring new employees are properly trained and compliant with health and safety regulations.
  • Support and monitor product and inventory transfers to the store, assisting with transfer schedules and helping to maintain accurate and organised in-store stock levels.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of stock discrepancies, taking a lead role in managing in-store aspects of the process.
  • Ensure product rotation and stock freshness are maintained to company standards through regular checks and delegation.
  • Personally verify deliveries and escalate any issues or discrepancies to the appropriate departments.
  • Approve returns and discounts, ensuring all are handled within policy and documented accordingly.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings with Assistant Supervisors, setting clear goals and monitoring team progress.
  • Lead daily stand-up meetings, ensuring all staff are aligned, motivated, and aware of store priorities.
  • Provide excellent customer service, and support daily retail operations to ensure smooth running of the store and create an engaging in-store experience.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
