Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Cloud Expert with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) and FinOps practices to drive operational excellence, cost optimization, and cloud governance. This role will be responsible for managing cloud infrastructure, ensuring reliability, optimizing cloud spend, and implementing best-in-class operational and financial management practices.

 

Compensation

$70 to $80/hr on W2

 

*This is the targeted compensation range for this role per hour. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Operations (Google Cloud Platform)

  • Manage, monitor, and optimize Google Cloud Platform infrastructure (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, etc.)
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of cloud environments
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation for deployments
  • Handle incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and production support
  • Monitor system health using tools like Cloud Monitoring, Logging, and third-party tools

FinOps & Cost Optimization

  • Analyze and optimize cloud spend across Google Cloud Platform services
  • Implement cost allocation, tagging, and chargeback/showback models
  • Create budgets, forecasts, and cost reports for stakeholders
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities (rightsizing, committed use discounts, autoscaling)
  • Partner with engineering and finance teams to drive cost accountability

Governance & Compliance

  • Establish and enforce cloud governance frameworks and policies
  • Ensure security best practices, IAM controls, and compliance standards
  • Implement cost governance policies and guardrails
  • Support audits and ensure regulatory compliance

Automation & Optimization

  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or similar tools
  • Automate operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
  • Optimize resource utilization and performance tuning

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with DevOps, engineering, finance, and business teams
  • Provide insights and recommendations for cloud strategy and cost efficiency
  • Present operational and financial metrics to leadership

 

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud operations / DevOps / SRE
  • Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform)
  • Experience with FinOps practices (cost optimization, budgeting, forecasting)
  • Expertise in Google Cloud Platform services: Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Functions, BigQuery, VPC
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Google Cloud Platform (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect)
  • Familiarity with FinOps Foundation frameworks and principles
  • Experience with multi-cloud environments (AWS/Azure is a plus)
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization
  • Experience with cost management tools (CloudHealth, Apptio, etc.)
