DRCG is seeking a highly motivated, Senior Network Engineer, to support a federal customer's goals to modernize and transform their IT environment to efficiently deliver new technologies to their workforce.

The Senior Network Engineer provides Tier 3 engineering and operational support for classified and unclassified networks across a large, globally distributed enterprise. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong operational discipline, and the ability to collaborate across security, cloud, and infrastructure teams while supporting mission-critical systems.

The engineer will support hundreds of domestic and international locations and operate across on-premise datacenters, campus networks, WAN, and cloud environments.

Current CCNP certification (Route SwitchEnterprise) and Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) experience required.

Job Location:. Merrifield, VA (3-days on-site)

Responsibilities

Provide Tier 3 senior-level support for network design, implementation, deployment, and sustained operations across the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) enterprise

Support classified and unclassified environments, ensuring operational continuity, security compliance, and high availability

Act as a technical escalation point for complex network incidents, outages, and performance issues

Participate in architecture reviews, design sessions, and implementation planning

Collaborate with Security, Cloud, Systems, and Application teams to ensure integrated solutions

Support global operations, including after-hours support and maintenance windows as required

Develop and maintain engineering documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooks

Technical Requirements

Enterprise Networking

Expert knowledge of Layer 2 / Layer 3 networking including routing, switching, and troubleshooting at scale

Strong experience with LAN, WAN, and global network optimization

Understand Dynamic Multipoint VPN (DMVPN) environments

Experience supporting campus networks across large user populations

Operational experience with wireless network design, deployment, and troubleshooting

Support for network applications installed on client workstations

Datacenter & Infrastructure

Operational support for on-premise datacenter networks

Experience with datacenter load balancing (design, configuration, and troubleshooting)

Strong understanding of high availability, redundancy, and failure domains

Ability to troubleshoot complex east-west and north-south traffic flows

Cloud Networking

Provide engineering and operational support for cloud networking in:

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Microsoft Azure

Experience with

Hybrid cloud connectivity

Cloud routing and security constructs

Integration between cloud and on-premise environments

Virtualization

Strong working knowledge of VMware environments

Understanding of network integration with virtualized workloads

Experience troubleshooting network issues in virtualized datacenters

Network Access & Security

Experience designing and supporting network access security solutions

Strong expertise with 802.1X authentication

Hands-on experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) including:

Policy enforcement

Authentication/authorization

Integration with enterprise identity services

Operational & Professional Skills

Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure, mission-critical environments

Strong troubleshooting methodology and root-cause analysis skills

Experience supporting strict change management and approval processes
