The Vulnerability

Management and Remediation Engineering team is building the next generation of mission critical security systems for protecting Amazon assets. Our innovations enable fast, efficient, and effective security across the globe to keep customer's data safe. Our customers are Amazon, internal stakeholders, and Amazon’s customers.

Our technical program managers work directly with stakeholders, get close to customers' needs, and are empowered to take technical risks to help build the best-in-class software with respect to quality, usability, and scale.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager who will support VMR Engineering teams to design and deliver security outcomes that positively impact our security posture at scale for Amazon customers and builders. You will partner with security and engineering leaders across Amazon businesses to work backwards from customer security, design initiatives to achieve those outcomes, and drive delivery against those commitments. You will operate amidst ambiguity, where the problem and strategy may not be defined.

You will deliver clarity by leading and collaborating with partner teams to define the strategic vision, and influence program and product roadmaps and strategies that will realize that vision.

The right candidate for this role is an experienced program manager with deep technical knowledge, business acumen, a security-first mindset, highly effective written and verbal communication. Characteristics that will make this candidate effective include demonstrated abilities to: [1] dive deep into complex problem spaces while maintaining focus on the larger strategic objectives, [2] build trust and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes with partners through transparency and delivery on commitments, and [3] communicate with clarity and candor to distill complex topics into simple terms while practicing respect for diverse ideas.

Key job responsibilities

  • You will partner with security and engineering leaders across Amazon business and security teams to work backwards from customer security outcomes, design initiatives to achieve those outcomes, and drive delivery against those commitments.
  • You will operate amidst ambiguity, where the problem and strategy may not be defined. You will deliver clarity by leading through your team and collaborating with partner teams to define the strategic vision, and influence program and product roadmaps and strategies that will realize that vision.
  • You will bring strong business and technical acumen to apply data-driven judgements and influence product, program, and architecture decisions.
  • You will support VMR Engineering teams in driving business and program reviews, aligning with stakeholders, and establishing mechanisms to continuously improve execution.
  • You will be representing verbally and in writing complex decisions, trade-offs, and potential solutions clearly to senior security and business leaders.

About the team The VMR Engineering teams are led by a tenured Amazon leader, and is supported with PEs and Sr. SDEs. These teams are leading the charge on building and operating Tier-1 security systems for threat management and incident response, including AI-driven (Generative Artificial Intelligence) insights, optimizations, and efficiencies.
