Do you love sports? Are you a big volleyball fan? Do you enjoy basketball? Are you interested in teaching, coaching, or working with youth/families? Are you looking for a fun, rewarding job? Then this amazing opportunity is for you!

The City of Ellensburg Parks & Recreation Department offers and coordinates a variety of youth and adult sports programs including basketball, volleyball, and youth sports camps throughout the school year. We are currently recruiting five (5) part-time sports officials to join our amazing team in September 2026. Jump to the head of the line by completing an application today! Interviews will be take place regularly until all positions are filled.

Sports staff will referee youth basketball games and youth volleyball games. Sports staff may also lead sports camps for youth ages 3 to 5 years old and for youth in 1st to 3rd grade.

These are temporary, part-time positions with no benefits except for earning sick leave. Officials must have basic knowledge of the rules of the sports program(s) they are officiating. All officials will receive training for each sport and will be cross-trained for other sports. Hours are in the evenings and Saturdays during the school year (Sept. through June).

Wage: $18.80 - $20.80 per hour depending upon position and program

Qualifications:
Must be 14 years of age and older (students ages 14-15 must have parent approval), means of transportation, experience in working with recreation programming preferred, prior experience coaching, refereeing, or supervising sports programs preferred, and first aid/CPR preferred.
