Internship Details 10 weeks: June 1st- August 7th Full time – 40 hours/wk Paid – \$19.50/hr Hybrid model - Reporting into WowTown Tues-Thurs Hands on, results driven projects. No coffee fetching here! Strategic Project focused, coupled with day-to-day responsibilities and development programming Highlights Interactive experiences with Senior Leadership Team Professional Development Sessions Lunch & Learns Insight and participation into companywide initiatives High exposure/small group 100% intern satisfaction rate High intern conversion rate! (On average, we hire 3-4 of our intern alumni each year) And of course – some fun product! Project Overview At Five Below, we’re always looking for ways to make the crew experience clearer, more supportive, and easier to navigate. This project focuses on mapping and enhancing the full benefits journey—from the candidate experience and new hire enrollment to ongoing support throughout employment and off-boarding. The project will also explore the leave-of-absence experience to ensure crew members have clear guidance, accessible resources, and a smooth transition back to work. The intern will take a “journey mapping” approach to the benefits experience by reviewing current enrollment materials, communications, and onboarding flows, then mapping how crew members interact with benefits across different locations (WowTown, Field, and Ship Centers). Along the way, they’ll identify opportunities to simplify processes, clarify communications, and make benefits information easier (and more enjoyable!) to understand and access. Key Deliverables A 90-day new hire benefits experience roadmap outlining key touchpoints from candidate stage through the first three months of employment A current-state vs. future-state view highlighting opportunities to improve the benefits experience A framework to support a consistent benefits experience across all locations (WowTown, Field, and Ship Centers) A mapped leave of absence journey from the crew member’s perspective, including guidance and resource touchpoints By the end of the program, the intern will present their roadmap and recommendations, highlighting ways to simplify benefits enrollment, improve communication, and create a smoother, more supportive benefits experience for crew members throughout their time at Five Below.
Requirements
- Must be actively enrolled as rising Junior, Senior, Grad Student or recent Grad with a relevant background, preferably studying Human Resources, Corporate Communications, or similar.
- Those studying under an associate’s certificate or similar program may be considered if coursework and skills fit the individual project requirements.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office products & remote meeting software.
- Must be available for the full 10-week program as space is limited.
- Must be a self-starter, highly passionate & detail oriented.
- Active ability to problem solve & communicate effectively.
- Knowledge and passion for our brand is a plus!
